Although not organic, Goat complements our philosophy of sustainable farming. It yields truly remarkable meat that would otherwise get wasted. Whilst Nanny/Female Goats are reared for replacements in a Goat dairy herd, Billy/Male Goats are surplus to requirements. We feel strongly that letting meat go to waste is unacceptable in an age when so much is already wasted and so many go without eating balanced, nutritious produce. Working with Cabrito, we have the platform to see that the Billy and Older Nanny Goat meat from our local area is used responsibly. The goats we butcher & sell come from a farm 7 miles away from us in here on the Somerset/Dorset Border.

At Coombe Farm we believe in sustainability. And we live it. Regarding our packaging:
Your delivery box is made of 100% recycled paper and is 100% recyclable.
To keep your order frozen we use ice packs which will retain a low temperature for a long period of time. Reuse them for a picnic or simply snip, empty the water and pop in your plastic recycling.
We use paper pulp sheets to insulate the box. They are great for craft projects or can also simply be recycled with paper waste.
We deliver our organic produce Tuesday – Saturday and you will be able to choose your preferred delivery day at checkout. The delivery charge is £3.95.
Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at Coombe Farm Organic we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.
We use blast freezing to preserve all of our meat products. It’s done at the point of butchery, to temperatures of -26°C. This locks in all the freshness, flavour and nutritional value and means you get the longest possible shelf life at home once you’ve defrosted it.
It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh meat would be much more challenging.
All of our sustainable goat meat is butchered in the local town to us, this is a small family-run butchery.

Lightning-quick cooking is the secret to goat liver success. Be sure not to let it hang around too long in the pan. It's a robust meat, so try it with a hot devilled sauce – the hum of mustard and tang of vinegar really bring out the richness of the liver's flavour. Just toss your liver in foaming hot butter for about a minute before adding a splash of brandy (let it spit and sizzle until well reduced), followed by a drizzle of red wine vinegar, a couple of dashes of Worcestershire sauce, a blob of English mustard and some redcurrant jelly. Add a dollop of crème fraîche then stir to combine the sauce ingredients. Serve heaped on a slice of sourdough toast, sprinkled with parsley if you're feeling fancy.
