Ingredients & instructions
  • 1lt Dry cider
  • 50ml Spiced rum, optional
  • 200ml Good quality apple juice
  • 1 Orange, cut into wedges
  • 3 Cloves
  • 2 Large cinnamon sticks
  • 3 tbsp Soft brown sugar

To Serve

  • 1 Orange, cut into slices
  • 6 Cinnamon sticks
  1. Pour the cider into a heavy-bottomed sauce pan and place over a medium to low heat. Add the spiced rum, if using, followed by the apple juice.
  2. Add the orange wedges, cloves, cinnamon and sugar and stir to incorporate all the ingredients. Simmer gently, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved and the cider is steaming.
  3. Pour carefully into heat-proof glasses and finish each glass with an orange slice and cinnamon stick.
