  • Chicken carcass is what’s left after a chicken has been butchered to create the popular cuts of chicken, we all love so much. Sustainability is one of the key elements in the Coombe Farm philosophy so it's important to us that nothing goes to waste. That means making use of every piece of every carcass. We don't chuck bits away because they're not prime cuts. Rather we extract goodness and value from everything a carcass has to offer. The bones from our organic chickens are full of flavour and packed with goodness. That's why we believe making a bone broth is one of the most important uses for any carcass.

  • Organic chicken bone broth is made by simmering the bones and connective tissue of chicken, the broth can then be drank or used to make soups, sauces or gravies. Whilst drinking bone broth has become popular as a health hack in recent times, the use of bone broth actually dates back to prehistoric times, when hunter-gatherers turned otherwise inedible animal parts like bones, hooves and knuckles into a broth they could drink.

  • There is some evidence to suggest anti-inflammatory qualities of chicken broth for sinus and respiratory infections, as well as some evidence to suggest bone broth also helps the lining of the gut, aid joints, muscles and bones as well as overall skin, hair and nail health. Bone broth is also packed with protein, easily digested, filling and low in calories.

  • Bone broth can be drank daily or a few times a week, but whatever frequency you decide on, studies have shown that drinking warmed bone broth can increase your intake of essential nutrients such as fibre, protein, and collagen. At Coombe Farm Organic we stock organic bones so you can make your own bone broth or why not try the selection of Borough Broth Co products we stock online also.

  • Bone broth does not have to be organic but at Coombe Farm Organic we only rear and sell organic produce and are proud to stock Borough Broth Co organic bone broth, which is made from animals reared in an organic system that's approved by the Soil Association. Alternatively, we stock our own organic bones which can used to make bone broth, these bones are from animals who ate a diet of grass – and were not fattened up on grain-based concentrates – which means they grew slowly to maturity, building lean muscles and strong skeletons. As we don't administer drugs routinely – only on veterinary advice – and we double recommended withdrawal times, you can be assured that our organic bones are clean, untainted and natural.

    • Bone broth is a great source of protein which is low in calories, and when used in a calorie deficit could aid weight loss. A Calorie deficit is simply when you consume fewer calories than your body expends, at Coombe Farm Organic we encourage a well-balanced diet and suggest always seeking medical advice before taking on any new diet. A variety of organic bone broths can be found on our website.

    • Bone broth diets have become popular in recent years, there are many versions out there but essentially, they work by replacing main meals with cups of bone broth. This replacement of meals or snacks reduces calorie intake, which is what you need to achieve weight loss, otherwise known as a calorie deficit = A calorie deficit occurs when you consume fewer calories than your body uses.  At Coombe Farm Organic do not encourage a diet where you sustain yourself on drinking bone broth and instead encourage a well-balanced diet and suggest seeking medical advice before taking on any new diet.

    • At Coombe Farm Organic we have a great selection of organic bone broth flavours but if you’re looking for a broth high in collagen and protein then organic lamb bone broth is a clear winner, with higher levels of protein and collagen than its counterparts.
