Organic Duck Wings

Meatier than you might think and so full of flavour

Some things are a bit fiddly but well worth it – organic duck wings are to be found in this category. You might think life's too short to be bothered picking the meat off a wing, but actually, doing so might just be one of life's underrated pleasures. There's a surprisingly rewarding amount of meat on our duck wings and it's dark-but-sweet meat that works beautifully with spicy or fruity flavours.

Coombe Farm Organic ducks grow slowly in a free-range system that follows Soil Association regulations. That means they have plenty of room and the liberty to follow the very specific natural instincts a duck has. Because their lives are natural and active – they graze, flap and dabbling at will – our ducks develop robust skeletons and powerful muscles. Both of these translate into flavour and hearty texture.

Product FAQs

  • We deliver our organic produce Tuesday – Saturday and you will be able to choose your preferred delivery day at checkout. The delivery charge is £3.95.

  • Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at Coombe Farm Organic we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.

We use blast freezing to preserve all of our meat products. It’s done at the point of butchery, to temperatures of -26°C. This locks in all the freshness, flavour and nutritional value and means you get the longest possible shelf life at home once you’ve defrosted it.

It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh meat would be much more challenging.

  • The poultry we sell has been organically reared they are free-range in smaller flocks than other birds, when the animal is ready it is slaughtered and butchered on the farm it was reared on so not to overstress the birds.

Make an irresistible snack by marinating your duck wings (ideally overnight) in soy sauce, rice wine vinegar and honey, throwing in a splash of groundnut oil and some grated garlic and ginger to add plenty of zing. A good tip is to do the marinating in an ovenproof roasting bag which can then be transferred directly to the oven when it's time to cook them. Roast slowly in a low oven for a good couple of hours until the marinade has turned gloopy and sticky. Release from the bag and tuck in with your fingers – it's a messy affair, but no-one's looking...
