Organic Chicken Carcass
Bones for making the very flavorsome broths, stocks and soups
By making your own stock not only can you be 100% certain what's in there, but you can also enjoy a depth of flavour that's totally authentic and second to none. As the key ingredient in broths, soups, gravies, and consommés, stock from an organic chicken carcass cannot be beaten for taste. Once you've made it, you'll never go back to a stock cube again. Looking for an alternative? try using our Duck Carcasses for a more depth of flavour, adding indulgence to your dinner.
As a speedy alternative to homemade stock, try our organic chicken bone broth.
*Please note your Organic Chicken Carcasses may arrive cut in half, convenient for making smaller batches of bone broth.
- Delivered frozen
- 350g-500g, 1litre of broth
Sustainability is one of the key elements in the Coombe Farm philosophy so it's important to us that nothing goes to waste. That means making use of every piece of every carcass. We don't chuck bits away because they're not prime cuts. Rather we extract goodness and value from everything a carcass has to offer. The bones from our organic chickens are full of flavour and packed with goodness. That's why we believe making a bone stock is one of the most important uses for any carcass.
FREQUENTLY ASKED CHICKEN CARCASS QUESTIONS:
-
Chicken carcass is what’s left after a chicken has been butchered to create the popular cuts of chicken, we all love so much. Sustainability is one of the key elements in the Coombe Farm philosophy so it's important to us that nothing goes to waste. That means making use of every piece of every carcass. When choosing any meat to purchase, it is worth carrying out some research. There are a number of studies that suggest organic chicken is a healthier option, containing less saturated fat and significantly higher levels of omega- 3 fatty acids, which are good for your heart. There are also several other reasons why choosing organic chicken is a good idea. They range from the contribution of organic farming to climate change, animal welfare and the use of pesticides and medicines used in the farming of conventional chickens, organic animals are only given antibiotics if absolutely necessary, rather than routinely, as they are in lower welfare systems to prevent spread of disease
-
Organic chicken and non-organic chicken differ by the standards to which they are reared and ultimately slaughtered. Organic chickens are given the freedom to live their lives as nature intended, roaming freely, feeding on a natural diet, and with minimal intervention of medicines, and no use of fertilisers and pesticides. Organic chicken has to be certified, all of our organic meat at Coombe Farm Organic is certified by the Soil Association, the decision to work with the Soil Association’s was, if we’re honest, a no-brainer. They demand some of the most stringent standards in the world of farming and food production. This ensures that the quality of everything carrying the Soil Association stamp is impeccable.
-
Organic chicken is free range, meaning our chickens have access to outdoor space to roam freely during the day and do all the things they love, such as scratching, foraging, chasing flies, taking dust bath and basking in the sun. The chickens then have the warmth and security of a spacious barn at night.

Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at Coombe Farm Organic we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.
We use blast freezing to preserve all of our meat products. It’s done at the point of butchery, to temperatures of -26°C. This locks in all the freshness, flavour and nutritional value and means you get the longest possible shelf life at home once you’ve defrosted it.
It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh meat would be much more challenging.
-
The poultry we sell has been organically reared they are free-range in smaller flocks than other birds, when the animal is ready it is slaughtered and butchered on the farm it was reared on so not to overstress the birds.
You will find any product ingredients on the relevant product pages.

Can't Find the Answer?
If you cannot find the answer to your question and would like to speak to someone contact us and we will be happy to help.
To really maximise flavour, roast your carcass in a moderate oven until it's just starting to brown. Then transfer to a stockpot, cover with boiling water and add the vegetables of your choice. Carrots, onions and celery are traditional, but feel free to add any root veg (well, probably not beetroot...) as well as garlic and big handfuls of herbs. You might want to go easy on seasoning if you plan to use your stock as a basis for soups and gravies. Let everything bubble away on the gentlest of heats for a good few hours before straining off the liquid and discarding the bones and veg. Use straight away or portion into bags or plastic trays and freeze for use later.

The chicken carcus was sqashed flat which looked odd but I guess that was due to space saving and packaging. There was lots of meat on the carcus which was unexpected. My dog liked the pickings. Lol. Made a lovely bone broth with the carcus and some veg. Crockpotted it for 30 hours. My only gripe is that I wish the leg bones were included. As it was just the carcus as in main body minus arms and legs. And I think some good marrow can be extracted from the thigh bones. I also bought ready made bone broth too. Thats always good to have in the freezer for when I've got a cold and am too lazy to make my own. Im a repeat customer. Because I like the produce and service.

this was the first time I have bought chicken carcasses as we usually just use the bones of a roast chicken for our bone broth. The broth was lovely which is good because I am on a 4 day bone broth diet to heal the gut. this was the first time I have bought chicken carcasses as we usually just use the bones of a roast chicken for our bone broth. Great for soups, with generous amount of meat remaining. Just right balance of aroma and fat to cook classic chicken stock or soup with vermicelli. Will be buying this again. These bones were soft enough to blend after 24 hours on the stove. Nothing wasted. Had a litre of stock and a jar of puree - mixed the latter with celeriac but would also make a soup. This was my first foray into home-made, slow cooker, bone broth. I was amazed with the result. I was expecting it to taste nothing like your superior broth. However, the reproduced version was very similar in taste - thank you! This was my first foray into home-made, slow cooker, bone broth. I was amazed with the result. It was so well packaged and I was kept informed of the exact delivery time. The actual carcass was fantastic value for money and contained a huge amount of actual 'meat' on the bones. I was able to make a huge pot of bone broth and knowing it was from an organic source was top of my list. This is a great company to do business with and their products are first class. Supermarket buys just aren't in the same league. I would highly recommend Coombe Farm and wished I lived next door! 10 stars would be a fitting rating.
