Organic Retired Dairy Beef Burgers [Gluten Free]
A simple pleasure, steak burger packed with flavour - from our Retired Dairy Beef range
Our Organic Retired Dairy Beef is a product of time and patience. The fat content on these animals is considerably higher, but boy is it great! You should always consider the age and fat content when cooking with Retired Dairy Beef – it is best cooked slowly and on a low temp, allowing the fat to break down and permeate through the meat.
A burger shouldn't be complicated. It should be meaty, juicy and substantial, made from quality ingredients that speak for themselves. Retired dairy beef burgers from Coombe Farm are certainly uncomplicated – we don't pack them full of fancy ingredients – and as a result, they're utterly delicious. The meat from our retired dairy cows has had plenty of time to mature, so the cuts we use for mince are beautifully marbled and distinctively flavoured. With just the addition of just a little seasoning, our hand-made burgers taste of rich beef – exactly as they should.
If you fancy a burger with a twist, try our organic Moroccan beef burgers or organic mutton burgers.

Much of the beef that's produced intensively these days comes from animals that have been grown fast and slaughtered young. Feeding grain and pumping in artificial growth promoters might get an animal to put on bulk quickly, but it rarely translates into flavour and texture. With our retired dairy beef, at Coombe Farm Organic, we've taken inspiration from the Spanish tradition of 'Basque Beef'. Mature dairy cows who no longer produce milk are put out to pasture where they fatten up on a natural diet of organic grass. The meat they produce is rich in nutrients and really packed with flavour – a flavour that only comes with slow growth and real maturity.

Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at Coombe Farm Organic we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.
We use blast freezing to preserve all of our meat products. It’s done at the point of butchery, to temperatures of -26°C. This locks in all the freshness, flavour and nutritional value and means you get the longest possible shelf life at home once you’ve defrosted it.
It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh meat would be much more challenging.
-
All of our meat is butchered in our in-house butchery by our small team. This means we have full control of what is cut and also means that we can accommodate more requests from our customers.
You will find any product ingredients on the relevant product pages.

Can't Find the Answer?
If you cannot find the answer to your question and would like to speak to someone contact us and we will be happy to help.
To make the most of your retired dairy beef burgers cook them over red-hot coals or in a smoking-hot griddle pan. Two or three minutes a side will give you a crispy, crunchy outside and a hint of pink inside. Don't be tempted to move them around while cooking – if you do you'll miss out on the lovely scorched griddle marks. Serve your burger in a soft brioche or floury ciabatta roll, accompanied by some sweet-sharp pickled cucumbers or sticky caramelised onions. A crumbling of blue cheese wouldn't go amiss, either.

Beautiful mature flavour, I was wondering if I’d notice a difference with the retired dairy beef meat and I did. I would order again. Good size of burger too, filling and therefore good value. Very good burger night treat. Four of us had one burger in a bun each and they went down very well. Really meaty. Didn’t shrink to nothing and stayed in good shape. A robust and tasty burger, ideal with all the usual fixings. Very good burger night treat. Four of us had one burger in a bun each and they went down very well. Really meaty.
