Organic Beef Sirloin Joint

An impressive, prime roasting joint – lean but packed with juicy flavour

If you love the taste and texture of sirloin steak but want the convenience of a beef roasting joint, Coombe Farm Organic's sirloin joint is a perfect choice. With all the characteristics you'd expect from the tasty sirloin – tenderness, delicate flavour, very little fat – it's an easy to cook joint that makes a hearty roast-dinner centrepiece. Because the sirloin is such a big cut of meat, our butchers have boned, rolled and neatly tied it. This means it cooks through evenly and consistently and carving is a doddle.

Sirloin is a cut that's sometimes accused of having less flavour than other, 'beefier' cuts, but you won't find that with our organic sirloin joint. All of Coombe Farm Organic's beef cattle are grown to over two years old (as opposed to the conventional 15 months) which means they've had time to develop strong muscles and bones while grazing their natural grass and clover diet. This slow growth imparts flavour to the meat, meaning our sirloin is sweet, delicate and distinctive – definitely not bland!

FREQUENTLY ASKED SIRLOIN JOINT QUESTIONS:

  • An organic beef sirloin joint is the perfect cut of beef to roast, its subtle internal marbling and thin layer of superficial fat of our organic sirloin joint mean it's not a fatty cut but will remain moist when cooked. Be sure to roast the sirloin joint fat side up, allowing 10-15 minutes per 450g for medium, 20-25 mins for medium well and 25-30 mins for well done. Turn your sirloin joint halfway through its cooking time for an even roast.

  • Sirloin is a fantastic cut of steak and is one of the best-known and most identifiable British steak cuts. Coombe Farm Organic's sirloin steak is taken from the middle section of the back of the beef carcass which is also where the sirloin joint is cut from. It's a great choice if you like the combination of a crispy-but-melting layer of fat and moderately grained, yielding meat that has bite without being too strongly flavoured. Perfectly balanced internal marbling keeps the sirloin succulent and enhances its natural delicacy.

Product FAQs

  • We deliver our organic produce Tuesday – Saturday and you will be able to choose your preferred delivery day at checkout. The delivery charge is £3.95.

  • Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at Coombe Farm Organic we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.

We use blast freezing to preserve all of our meat products. It’s done at the point of butchery, to temperatures of -26°C. This locks in all the freshness, flavour and nutritional value and means you get the longest possible shelf life at home once you’ve defrosted it.

It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh meat would be much more challenging.

  • All of our meat is butchered in our in-house butchery by our small team. This means we have full control of what is cut and also means that we can accommodate more requests from our customers.

You will find any product ingredients on the relevant product pages.

    Can't Find the Answer?

If you cannot find the answer to your question and would like to speak to someone contact us and we will be happy to help.

The subtle internal marbling and thin layer of superficial fat of our organic sirloin joint mean it's not a fatty cut but will remain moist when cooked. It's a really traditional cut so works perfectly with the traditional accompaniments of crispy roast potatoes and a luscious, rich red wine gravy. Coating the joint with horseradish or mustard and herbs before roasting it results in a crispy, punchy crunch around tender pink meat. The flavour of sirloin also works well with the earthy, sweet spices of Chinese cuisine – try rubbing with Chinese five spice and some honey before roasting, then serve with noodles and crunchy stir-fried veg.
