Organic Pork Cumberland Sausages [Gluten Free]
A juicy sausage with plenty of rich flavour and a really meaty texture
Coombe Farm Organic pork Cumberland sausages are hearty, well-textured and full of flavour. Versatile enough to enjoy as part of a full English breakfast or to have with mash for a comforting supper, they're always filling and satisfying. That's because our sausages are all about the meat: the flavour of our organic pork speaks for itself. Cumberland sausages are distinguished from other pork bangers by their chunky, coarse texture. So rather than mincing our pork, we've chopped it. You'll really see the difference that makes when you bite into one.
If you like a succulent sausage , try our organic pork and apple sausages.
- Delivered frozen
- 6 x 66g, Serves 2 - 3
Traditional Cumberland sausages are made in a coil. But that makes a really big sausage, so we've broken with that tradition to make our Cumberlands more versatile. We balance the chopped pork from our native breed pigs with the perfect amount of fat to get things juicy and tasty, then add seasoning, herbs and nothing else. We use salted pork casings that are 100% natural and which cut easily.
Ingredients: organic pork (85%), potato starch, sea salt, organic white pepper, ascorbic acid E300, organic black pepper, organic ginger, organic rubbed sage, organic nutmeg, organic thyme, organic sugar, organic cayenne, organic rosemary extract, water
- Supplied: Insulated box at -18°C
- Freezing: Will arrive frozen, use by best before date on packaging
- Defrosted: Store between 0 - 5°C and use within 3-5 days

Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at Coombe Farm Organic we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.
We use blast freezing to preserve all of our meat products. It’s done at the point of butchery, to temperatures of -26°C. This locks in all the freshness, flavour and nutritional value and means you get the longest possible shelf life at home once you’ve defrosted it.
It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh meat would be much more challenging.
-
All of our meat is butchered in our in-house butchery by our small team. This means we have full control of what is cut and also means that we can accommodate more requests from our customers.
You will find any product ingredients on the relevant product pages.

The hearty texture of our pork Cumberland sausages makes them especially delicious in slow-cooked casseroles with rich ale or red-wine gravies and plenty of seasonal root veg. Pop your ingredients into a slow cooker and come back later to be welcomed home by the amazing smell of a ready made supper. Or try a simplified version of the French peasant-food cassoulet. Combine Cumberland sausages with garlicky haricot beans, tomatoes and some woody herbs, and slow cook until the beans are tender. A splash of cream at the end adds a little indulgent touch.

The skins cut like butter and they have a lovely peppery taste but I've awarded 4 stars as I found the texture to be mushy not coarse. I'd also prefer the sausages to be wrapped in butchers paper. I have no idea what they do to them to make them taste so good, because the ingredients don't contain any funny stuff, but my goodness are they delicious! The best sausages around! Had these today for the first time. Fifty years ago I was eating Cumberland sausage made by the butcher who regularly won the prize at the Cumberland Show for them. These are just as good. Lovely sausages that taste good when burnt a little bit- just how I like them. Makes a good hotdog or goes well with some mustard mash and onion gravy! Mmm!
