A classic partnership unites in our steak and mushroom pie, to prove why an all-time classic combo just can't be beaten. The steak is tender, with just the right amount of bite, and its meaty flavour is complemented by the earthiness of the mushroom. We've left our filling chunky – because we like to see what we're getting when we bite into a pie – and added just the right amount of gravy. Sage, garlic and some seasoning are all that's needed to round off the flavours. Combine with buttery, crumbly short crust pastry and you've got a very satisfying pie indeed.

At Coombe Farm Organic we're proud to rear and use the very best quality meat. We're also proud to farm in a way that makes the best use of resources. As dairy farmers, we saw that bull calves born to dairy cows were surplus to requirement. So we started crossing a beef bull with dairy cows to produce calves that would be reared in our beef system instead. That cuts down on waste, keeps the milk flowing and populates our beef herd all at the same time. 

Ingredients: beef 75%, mushroom 1.5%, garlic, sage, wheat flour, sea salt, black pepper, butter, water

  • Supplied: Insulated box at -18°C
  • Freezing: Suitable for home freezing, use within 6 months
  • Defrosted: Store between 0 - 5°C and use within 2 - 3 days

Delivery

 

  • We deliver all around mainland Britain, excluding the Highlands and Islands. The delivery will be made within 24 hours upon placing the order or on a weekly-schedule for subscriptions.

  •  

    We can deliver to you Tuesday to Saturday, providing you place your order Monday to Friday, pre 12pm.

    We will pick, pack and deliver your box the Next Day or on the day you have requested.

    Orders placed Monday to Friday, after 12pm, will be picked, packed and delivered 1 working day later.

    Orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday, will be picked and packed on the Monday for delivery on the Tuesday or on the day you have selected.

    For every order, we'll send you a text message on the morning it is due to be delivered.

  • We have a minimum order of £30 simply for sustainability reasons in order to minimise packaging, delivery and the environmental footprint.

  • If you spend over £80 your delivery will be free of charge. For orders under £80 we have to charge for delivery. Please have a look at the details:

  • No. You can leave a message with your order telling us where you would like to have your box placed. It would be best placed somewhere cool or at least in the shade – especially during the hotter months of the year. Our products will stay at the same temperature for up to 40 hours, so just make sure that you can pick up your order within that time.

    Our couriers will send you a text message or email, which ever you prefer, giving you an hour slot when your box will arrive. If that doesn’t suit you, some options will be provided to make your delivery more convenient.

  • Our products will stay frozen at the same temperature for up to 40 hours. Simply put them in your freezer after delivery or in your fridge if you want to defrost them and use them within the next few days.

    To control the temperature in your box we use ice packs. When soaked in fresh water the pad can be frozen and will retain a low temperature for a long period of time. Reuse it for your picnic or a day out!

    Sustainably Insulated

    Natural sheep’s fleece provides insulation for your order for up to 40 hours and can be reused for planting, filling cushions, arts and crafts and so much more. There are no limits to your creativity!

Product FAQs

  • We deliver our organic produce Tuesday – Saturday. Delivery charges for weekday delivery are £3.95 and Saturday delivery £6.95. You can also select pre-12 delivery option which is at a higher rate of £6.95 for weekday delivery and £8.95 for Saturday. If you spend over £80 you will receive free weekday delivery. The cut off period to get your order the next day is 12pm any order placed after that time will be delivered after 2 days. For example if you order after 12pm on Tuesday you will receive your box on Thursday.

  • Our products are sent to our customers frozen because when we started the business we looked into convenience for our customers. We found that sending the produce frozen meant that they could order for instance a month’s worth of produce and could go into their freezer until they are ready to use it. It also meant that there was less risk to the meat whilst been delivered as fresh meat can be delicate and risky.

  • All of our meat is butchered in house. In December 2018 our in-house butcher was built which means that we have full control of what is cut and also means that we can accommodate more requests from our customers.

We recommend you fully defrost your steak and mushroom pie before cooking. Glaze the pastry lid with a splash of beaten egg, then cook in the oven at 180°C for just about 20 minutes, until golden, crispy and sizzling. Serve with wilted seasonal greens and smooth Parmesan mash studded with chopped spring onions.
