Organic Nitrate-Free Unsmoked Back Bacon
High-quality free-range back bacon, wake up to the delicious smell of crispy bacon sizzling away. Natural and sustainable no nitrites or nitrates.
Cut from the back of the pork carcass, Coombe Farm Organic's unsmoked back bacon incorporates the eye meat of the loin and the marbled layers of the belly. Our butchers have expertly trimmed the fat so you're left with just enough to keep the meat beautifully moist, and for a bit of crackling crunch on top. Back bacon is a breakfast-time stalwart, whether you're going full-on English or enjoying it with plenty of ketchup and butter between doorstops of bread. But there are lots of other ways you can enjoy it, for any meal of the day. Organic pigs are naturally reared and are free-range in large paddocks which allow them to rootle around and wallow in muddy pools. Organic is obviously important to us, but so is natural, which means we cure our bacon without the help of chemicals such as nitrates. We've pared the process right back and use only sea salt, and brown sugar, as dry curing agents.

If you love a rasher of bacon but want to keep the fat to a minimum, back bacon is a good choice. The loin meat is the leanest on the pig so is lower in calories than streaky. It's also a great way to get protein and a big punch of flavour into meals without needing to use a huge amount of meat. We cure our bacon with just sea salt and organic demerara sugar. So it's chemical-free and totally natural.
Coombe Farm organic pigs are reared in a high-welfare, free-range system. A Saddleback-Gloucester Old Spot crossbreed, they thrive in the climate of the West Country. Pigs are sociable, active animals so living outdoors for as much of the year is important for them. It might come as a surprise to learn that there's nothing at all lazy about pigs. They spend their time running and playing, rootling in the earth and, when it's hot, wallowing in mud baths. Being able to follow their natural instincts is vital for these intelligent animals, which is why high standards of animal husbandry are so important to us.

We will pick, pack and deliver your box the day you have requested.
For every order, we'll send you a text message on the morning it is due to be delivered.
Our courier will leave it in your requested safe place if you would prefer a contactless delivery.

No. You can leave a message with your order telling us where you would like to have your box placed. It would be best placed somewhere cool or at least in the shade – especially during the hotter months of the year. Our products will stay at the same temperature for up to 40 hours, so just make sure that you can pick up your order within that time.
Our couriers will send you a text message or email, whichever you prefer, giving you an hour slot when your box will arrive. If that doesn’t suit you, some options will be provided to make your delivery more convenient.

Our products will stay frozen at the same temperature for up to 40 hours. Simply put them in your freezer after delivery or in your fridge if you want to defrost them and use them within the next few days.

Your delivery box is made of 100% recycled paper and is 100% recyclable.
Delivered Frozen
To keep your order frozen we use ice packs which will retain a low temperature for a long period of time. Reuse them for a picnic or simply snip, empty the water and pop in your plastic recycling.Sustainably Insulated
We use paper pulp sheets to insulate the box. They are great for craft projects or can also simply be recycled with paper waste.

You can cancel your order within two hours after your online purchase. We can not cancel an order after this period.
We hope that you enjoy our products. But if for any reason you are unhappy, please let us know why within 28 days of delivery, by sending us the batch number and the reason why you are disappointed with the product. Do not throw the product away as we may need to recall it to confirm the problem.
As your product is perishable, you will not be asked to return it for us for re-selling.
When we have looked at the evidence, we will then consider reimbursing you by means of a credit for a future order or resending the product. We will do our very best to respond as quickly as possible and try to resolve it.

Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at Coombe Farm Organic we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.
It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh meat would be much more challenging.

Bacon is an excellent partner for lots of different ingredients – some of them rather surprising. Use it wrapped around chicken, casserole it with rabbit or add it to a New England-style clam chowder. It brings flavour to simple lentil recipes and lends a contrasting texture to wilted greens or stir-fried sprouts. And when it's barbecue season, you can't go wrong with a generous heap of bacon on top of a freshly grilled steak burger. Just add a cold lager for good measure.

So far the best organic, nitrate/nitrite free thick cut bacon I have found. This is a repeat purchase. The taste is good and you cannot see through the slices, like some other brands.
